It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of our founder members, Ray Smith. He passed away peacefully, in hospital, after a short illness. Ray would have been 88 on his next birthday later this year.
Ray, along with our current treasurer, Bob Love, were instrumental in setting up EALABA in 2008. Ray was a multiple World IBD Championship, Gold & Silver medallist. He was involved with the start up of Disability Bowls England. A County level EBCS coach, coaching many players over the years from the age of 7 upwards.
Ray was a fabulous person and had a wonderful way with people. He never gave up, bowling right up to a couple of weeks before being taken ill. He used to bowl with his brother Pip, who passed 2 months previously, and his son Neil.
Ray will be remember with great affection.
